About Oscar
We would like to share a pretty special 5½ year old boy Oscar who is looking for a *particularly special* family 🤞🏻
Oscar is an absolutely beautiful boy who is just a big sweetheart and has a heart of gold.
Unfortunately, Oscar did not receive the attention and medical care that he required when he was younger and as result he now requires long term care and medical treatment.
Oscar has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart and he will require life long heart and cardiovascular medication with an initial ongoing 3 monthly check to monitor his cardiac function.
He has a permanent wobbly gait (as a result of Ataxia), which means he can’t walk straight and is always a bit wobbly, but manages very well and is able to walk up a few stairs well, however he cannot jump.
Poor Oscar was also diagnosed with a skin yeast infection (Malassezia) and bacterial dermatitis, Oscar will require a medicated bath every 2 weeks, supplemented by short term daily medication. Overall, his skin condition has vastly improved since being in our care and continues to improve.
Due to severe corneal damage as a result of a previous eye ulcer, Oscar's right eye has been removed. To ensure his remaining eye is looked after, he will require eye ointment twice daily to ensure his vision remains.
Despite all of these conditions, we would like to assure you that Oscar is living a good quality of life as confirmed by our trusted vets! 🙌🏻🥰
Ideally we would love Oscar to be adopted to someone that works from home or to someone who is retired that will have plenty of time for him and can commit to his medication up keep and grooming ✔️
He is great with kids and other dogs but with his level of activity a quieter family life is preferable for our Oscar.
We understand that we have our work cut out for us, but we know there is a family out there that is willing to provide Oscar the love and attention that he requires 💞
If you believe you are able to provide Oscar with the loving home that he requires, we are interested in hearing from you. You can submit an application via the link below (please provide as much information as you can in your application):

***Please note, Oscar is not available for interstate adoption and as we’re run solely by volunteers, only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting Oscar or one of our rescues, there are few things that need to take place that form part of the adoption process:
1. You will need to fill in an adoption form, which is located via our website https://www.pugpatrolrescueaustralia.com.au/pug-adoption-application/
2. If there is a rescue that is suited to you, you will receive a call from one of our foster carers and a phone interview will occur;
3. If mutually agreed, a meet and greet will be organised;
4. A home check will be undertaken
