About Aztec ~ Cattle Dog x GSD (on trial 29/12/18)
Hi I’m Aztec! I’m a 6 month old Cattle Dog x German Shepherd boy. I’m definitely going to be a big boy when I’m fully grown because I’m already 26 kilos, not that I let that stop me from crawling into your lap for cuddles. I’m desexed, vaccinated and ready to find my new forever home.
My ideal forever home is one where I’m included as a member of the family, and one who doesn’t mind me joining them on the couch for cuddles. I love being around my humans and being involved in family life. Ideally, I’d also like a home with another friendly dog as a companion. I’m a friendly boy who gets along well with other dogs. The only time there have been misunderstandings is when I’ve gotten too excited and been a bit to boisterous. I don’t realise my size, and can accidentally be a little too rough.
I’m house trained, although it is best to greet me outside. I get very excited seeing you come home from work and tend to have small accidents, although they are getting smaller and less frequent. I’m a very clever boy and with some more training would make a perfect addition to your home. I’ve learnt to sit, I’ll also wait patiently for my dinner. I’m learning drop and to shake. If you have patience and treats my foster mum is sure I’d be able to learn just about anything. I’m also learning to sit when I greet you instead of jumping up, I get more pats that way.
My foster mum doesn’t think I was played with much in my last home. I tend to chase my foster sister when she has the ball instead of chasing the ball when it’s thrown. Being a puppy I do like to chew. Soft toys and bones are my favourites, and if I don’t have toys or treats to keep me entertained, I will find other things to munch on.
As long as I have a puppy friend to play with, I wouldn’t be worried if you had to work. My current foster parents both work full time through the week, so my foster sister and I play in the backyard until they get home. I haven’t been off leash out in the world, but at home my recall is quite good, especially if it involves treats.
I love outings, especially to the beach where I will head straight for the water. I love swimming and am confident to go out quite a few meters, I’d love if my new family enjoyed the beach and swimming also. I travel well in the car and will generally walk back and forth to see all the sights before curling up on the seat. My foster family doesn’t have any children, so I haven’t had much exposure to them, but I have been good with the ones I’ve met when out and about. My foster mum says id be best suited to a family with older children though because of my size, when I’m excited I tend to knock people off balance as I rush past them.
With the right family I will be a very loving and loyal dog. If you think you’ll be the right fit for me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with my foster carer.
