QLD - Maddy (f/3y) - Ready for Adoption

Maddy is a young three year old female who has lots of energy. In fact, she’s often spotted sprinting around her Foster home’s yard and leaping high every time she crosses the garden path, she clearly has a good imagination and is intelligent enough to entertain herself. She’s not all go go go though, once she has had a good run around, she loves nothing more than to lay down somewhere to rest and keep an eye on you.

Here’s where the overload of cuteness comes in... Maddy has a bestie in the form of favourite toy called ‘Teddy’. She responds instantly to “Where’s Teddy?” and with that she will jump up, retrace her steps, find Teddy and bring him back. But that’s where the fetch ends! She won’t hand him over, she keeps him to herself to snuggle with.

Maddy has started on the basics in her manners, however needs plenty more dedication to continue the work already put in by her Foster family. Lead training is a must as left uncontrolled, her excitement can overwhelm other dogs and all attention disappears from you to the anticipation of what the other dog is doing. As she is a highly stimulated dog, she needs to stay focused on you and understand you are clearly in charge of the situation. So we think a really experienced Boxer Owner would be the perfect fit to continue her training especially in this area. We’ve not yet exposed her to other dogs as she has had plenty on her list to work on first, so we are unsure of how she would be. She has also not been tested with cats.

This sweet girl loves children, she has had plenty of visits and cuddles in her Foster home from young children and has always welcomed and reciprocated their attention. In fact, Maddy just generally loves human connection. She remembers how much she missed you after she has been home alone for a few hours, so she goes totally over the top, when you come home, sprinting through the house, in and out the dog door in a display of excitement, that can last more than a minute. It’s that beautiful, gentle, loving nature that we all love about the Boxer breed, teamed with an incredibly excited side, that really just needs ongoing training and time to take it down a couple of notches.
