About Ziggy ~ Rotti x Dogue de B (on trial 23/12/18)
Meet Ziggy! This gorgeous looking Rottweiler x Dogue de Bordeaux girl has the temperament to match! Through no fault of her own she has ended up in care with DRN. Her 1st birthday is coming up and we intend to find her the perfect forever home as the ultimate present!
This beautiful and gentle goofball is already house trained, lead trained, and desexed. She shows no signs of food aggression and eats side by side with her foster brother. Ziggy is a polite eater and now eats 2 regular meals a day in full. She arrived in care overweight but since getting top quality food and routine into her diet has shed a few of kgs in less than 2 weeks!
Ziggy is very adorable in how she plays alone and with others. She’s submissive but sneaky and will keep you giggling with her puppy antics. But she’s equally as endearing when she is gentle and wanting snuggles. Her skin is very floppy like a dog de Bordeaux so she loves being patted for down time.
Ziggy was never socialised in her previous home but she loves her older foster brother, Dexter. She shadows him and watches everything he does. She’s learning everyday how to behave like a good dog. If you have another dog at home we believe she will be ok pending the proper introduction process.
Ziggy knows how to sit, wait, shake, lay down, jump up, leave it and come on command. Her newest trick she’s learning is ‘look’. She will thrive with basic training to bond with you and loves treats and praise as rewards
Ziggy came from a home where she was an alone outside dog. She has accustomed to inside time easily and shows her soft and snuggly side when indoors for ‘quiet time’ by snuggling with foster mum, dad, and foster brother Dexter. She sleeps quietly inside on her bed and is very well behaved through the night
Her foster family believe Ziggy was never taught how to play or play with others so her fav game is snatch and run. But her big brother has taught her fetch and tug of war and she loves both. He has also taught her that we come back when called.
Being part Rotti Ziggy has taken a bit of a protective stance when she is unsure of a noise or person (growling/ quiet barking/ heckles up) whilst out with her foster family. They believe it’s because she has never experienced most environments eg. walks on a shared public path and joyrides in the car. This behaviour is a response to uncertainty of the situations. Her foster family are working her through these lessons on how to ‘dog’ and she shows signs of learning quickly!
Ziggy is very floppy in her gangly nature. Her favourite pastime is redecorating the home! She loves to throw her toys around the yard and house to make sure there’s one whenever and wherever she needs it! She also will paw at you when she’s ready for attention.
Ziggy’s ideal home is one where she can be outside with a patient friend and inside when someone is home. She can be taken on adventures with her family and learn the ways of the world in her own time. Her new home understands the characteristics of her mixed breeds and that she needs ongoing training, socialisation, exercise and grooming everyday. She can potentially be an only dog if she is with her family most hours of the day but better suited to a shared household with another friendly dog if within a working home. Ziggy is very excited by children. She forgets how big and clumsy she can be and can knock little ones down. Ziggy is best suited to family with no children under 12.

Medical notes
Happy and healthy dog
Ziggy is currently being treated for ear infections in both ears. And due to her breed mix she is suffering from skin irritation. Both issues are being looked after and her carers have seen a huge improvement in their short time together.
