About Takeshi (Australian Capital Territory)
NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST ONLY.
Takeshi is a very alert, clever and lovable young Kelpie puppy with a beautiful nature. You can follow his progress in foster care here at his blog: https://koalathebear.dreamwidth.org/tag/Takeshi
Takeshi is trainable and affectionate and loves pats and cuddles. Although he can get quite excited sometimes, he is calm for a puppy and has an off-switch. Nonetheless, he would be best in an experienced dog home with only older children or very calm younger children.
Takeshi is crate-trained and sleeps quietly through the night. He travels well in a car, whether in a harness or in a crate. He can sit and drop. Takeshi is house-trained and has learned how to use a dog door.
Takeshi is currently living with three other dogs and is very dog friendly. He loves people and has been socialised with turtles. He has not yet been tested with cats or small animals. Takeshi has learned to sit and wait for his food.
Takeshi loves playing with toys and is very playful and cheeky. As a Kelpie he is in need of both intellectual stimulation and enrichment as well as physical exercise that is appropriate to his age. Working dogs like Takeshi find their own fun if they do not receive ongoing training and boundaries. Preference will be given to performance home applicants.
Takeshi would be fine as a solo dog but he is very sociable so would absolutely love a doggy buddy with whom to play and from whom to learn doggy manners.
Please note that Takeshi is still a puppy so should not do any hard exercise (long walks, jogging, alongside a bicycle, frisbee) until he is at least around 14 months old and he has finished growing. Until then, he should have only short walks and gentle exercise.
Takeshi is not yet ready for adoption however, we are accepting expressions of interest which can be submitted at this online form here: http://www.4lyfe.org.au/adoption-application so that you may be included on the waiting list for consideration. Please note that Takeshi will be placed with the the most suitable ‘forever’ home based on Takeshi's (and his adopter’s) personality and needs and that adoption is not on a first in first serve basis.
Medical notes
Takeshi is not yet desexed but will be desexed prior to rehoming.
