Lexiana is a gorgeous and intelligent 8-month-old Kelpie x Rottweiler. She currently lives on an acre property with 2 other large breed male dogs and a 12-week-old pup. She has no problem with dogs of any gender or size. Lexi enjoys going to off lead dog parks and dog beaches. She responds to her name when called and is best suited to a home that already has a dog.
She currently lives on a property with 4-foot-high (1.2m) fencing and she has shown no interest in jumping over it or digging under it.
Lexi sleeps on the floor inside on her shared bed (with the other dogs) and occasionally sneaks onto our bed during the night. She is a loving dog and needs to be in an environment that will allow her to have a cuddle and a snuggle. She spends almost all day outside and after work hours is indoors until morning.
Lexi is a vacuum cleaner and will eat anything! She eats well with other dogs and does not get protective with her food. We have also found that she does not get concerned or anxious when left home with other dogs. However, if she is left alone outside she does get upset and will resort to getting your attention.
Lexi is toilet trained and has not had any accidents inside. She can sit, shake, drop and is learning to roll over. Lexi walks well on a lead and even better on a chest harness. She can fetch and bring the ball back (using the release word ‘Ta’). Lexi would benefit from more dog school or agility training to keep her stimulated and active.
Lexi has the energy of a kelpie and need to find a home with an active family to keep her stimulated and healthy. When inside she will go straight to her bed or find a spot on the floor to sleep. She doesn’t misbehave inside as she comes inside to relax and sleep.
Lexi is good with children and doesn’t get aggressive, however she is a large dog and doesn’t know her size. She can sometimes bump a child when going for a pat or turning around.
Areas that could be improved; She has a small habit of barking and getting her hackles up when people are at our fence line walking down the street. When meeting new people, she can jump up, however she is already improving this behaviour with training.
