About Diamond & Tango
I’m not sure I’ve met a cuter couple than Diamond and Tango. They are also the easiest dogs we’ve ever had.
Diamond is a 5 year old Cavoodle and Tango is a 12 year old Bassett Hound.
Both dogs are incredibly loving and loyal, quiet and human focussed. They are a bonded couple who cannot be separated. Neither dog is overly active and both prefer cuddles to play, but they do love to get out to the park, run around and meet other dogs.
Diamond is a little shy around other dogs, while Tango is quietly confident. Neither dog shows an ounce of aggression but Diamond will let out a little growly squeal of discontent of she is overly harassed by another dog. She will have the occasional play with another dog, but much prefers human company.
Tango likes to play with other dogs on occasion too, but sniffing the grass in true Bassett fashion and sitting next to you basking in your company are his favourite things to do.
Tango is a darling who loves to lay with his head on your pillow at night and snore in your ear. His big, soft, pendulous ears are a velvety pleasure to stroke and his stumpy little legs are just exquisitely adorable. He is a little finer than a lot of Bassets which seems to have worked in his favour as he shows no signs of arthritis. He also appears to have no hearing or eyesight deficits. Aside from a couple of coat-obscured old man warts and a grade 3/4 heart murmur this boy is as fit as a fiddle.
The heart murmur is something that he has had for some time with little change and does not show any symptoms nor require medication. However, this may affect him at some point in his life and potential adopters must be prepared to deal with the costs of any treatment required. Heart medication is not cheap so financially stable people only need apply. This delicious creature has also had a dental scale and polish with some extractions to renew his beautiful smile.
Diamond is a soft girl who is sensitive and gentle. She is always by your side and loves to be stroked. Her coat is non-shedding but will require regular grooming. She currently has a short clip but her coat will continually grow.
Diamond has the most beautiful big eyelashes that serve to frame her gorgeous, innocent brown eyes. Her loving demeanour is hard to resist and she’s had many an adoring fan when out in public. Health-wise, she is young and fit and has many years ahead of her.
While they don’t often play together they frequently cuddle up with one another for naps and are completely trusting of each other. We are aware of the popularity of non-shedding breeds like Diamond and will ensure that whichever home they go to has no intention of separating them - a true dog lover wants what is best for their dogs, not what is most fashionable or convenient and true dog lovers only need apply. We are prepared to wait indefinitely for the right home.
Both dogs are toilet trained but will need initial supervision in their new environment to ensure no accidents occur.
Diamond and Tango are a really special pair and we will be looking for big hearted people who can offer them a superior lifestyle. The unconditional love and loyalty they will grant will serve as a great reward for your efforts in taking the very best care of them.

Medical notes
Tango has a grade 3/4 heart murmur that is asymptomatic and is otherwise healthy.
Diamond is a healthy young girl.
Adoption details
Please email us a little bit about yourself. We do not operate on a first-in-best-dressed basis. Instead, our aim is to find the most suitable forever home for the animals in our care.
Your email should include details about who lives at your home, both humans and animals and what their daily schedules and living arrangements are like. It should include details about your previous dogs and a thorough break down of the house rules you will have for this pet as well as what their typical day will look like.
It may take a couple of weeks to process the applications. Please try to be patient. All applicants will receive a response - but it may not be an immediate one.
If your application seems promising you will be contacted for a telephone interview. Should this be successful you will be invited to a meet and greet and asked to send photos of your property.
Should the meet and greet end favourably, you may pay the adoption fee, sign some paperwork and take the pet on a two week trial during which time you will be asked to provide regular updates.
During this trial period the pet remains the property of Onyx Rescue and adoption will only be finalised following a successful trial.

AN OPEN LETTER TO APPLICANTS:
We hate to disappoint people. It’s something that really upsets us, but unfortunately it comes with the territory of what we do. So we want to take the time to explain something.
When we take on a dog, we make a commitment both to that dog and the former owners of that dog to find this fur-kid their perfect forever home. Our primary criterion in order to achieve this is whether that home is a good match for that dog. Each dog can have vastly different needs from the next and every home is different.
Sometimes well-intentioned people put their friends in touch with us, sometimes we are approached by friends or even family in relation to a particular dog. However, we have made a promise not to compromise on my commitment and we have to turn them down.
This isn’t a reflection of their dog ownership skills, nor how we feel about them personally. Our decision will always come down to whether we believe that they are a match. Not just any match - the best match.
Sometimes we are lucky to have several interested parties who would be a good match and it can be difficult to choose between them. Our ultimate decision will, however, not be influenced by our relationship with this potential adopter, be it secondary or primary, nor the number of times they have applied and missed out previously, nor whether they applied first, nor the number of times or methods used to contact us about a particular pet, but whether or not they are the BEST match available.
So if you know someone who is interested in any of the dogs at Onyx Rescue, or you are interested in one yourself, please go through the proper channels and send your application through Petrescue. Please do not take offence if you or your friends are not chosen - this only means that there was someone who was a better match. Not a better person, not a better dog owner, but a better match.
We believe there is a home for every dog and a dog for every home, so if you’ve not been chosen previously please do not give up applying - the next one may be your perfect dog.
