Waffles

We think Waffles is the bees knees, and we are sure you will too. Waffles loves to sit next to you on the sofa and rest his head on your lap while you pat his sweet head and tell him what a good boy he is. He really is a super dog.

Waffles is a happy, spirited young dog – he absolutely LOVES to play with his ball. Lots of activity and games along with treat-based training will be a lot of fun with Waffles! Waffles is quite hyper at first meetings – but once properly introduced he seems to get along well with other dog. He has settled remarkably well with a group of smaller canine foster siblings. He’s been living with two dog-savvy cats and is not interested in them, but is curious. He would chase if the cat runs though so we would be cautious if the cat in his new home is not confident with dogs.

Waffles is a work in progress – he will need more training so he can become the happy, obedient boy he knows he wants to be. He can sit on command (with a treat or ball as incentive). Waffles is a strong boy for his 14 kg size and gets quite excitable – but even in a short time, without any specific one-on–one training, has calmed down significantly - and will make further improvement with ongoing training.

An ideal home for Waffles will be with an active person, someone with some dog experience who is willing to undertake some ongoing, formal training with Waffles. Focus on his socialisation and teaching him to control his enthusiasm and excitement will see him thrive. He used to share his home with a female lab/retriever and would benefit from a placid companion.

Waffle’s world has been a bit topsy turvy recently and has left him feeling a bit unsure. Despite this each day with his foster family sees a calmer dog who trusts his future is full of love and hope.
