About Pepper ~ Poodle x (on trial 28/11/18)
This is Pepper, a 12 year old black Poodle x. Pepper weighs about 10kg. He is a tough little guy who did not have the privilege of being a loved family pet but with a right home he could show you how beautiful, loving and loyal dog he is.
Pepper had been living by himself in an unsheltered backyard for years. He was thrown a can of food a day and shown no love or attention. His coat was in the worst condition I have seen. When we rescued him he had a large paralysis tick under his eye. He was hospitalised and fought for his life. The vet was amazed how quick he recovered considering the size of the tick and his age. His general health is very good. He has a few grey hairs around his mouth but you would not think he was 12 otherwise. He is an active dog who loves his walks.
Pepper understandably has a few issues. He displays some anxiety and can be a restless dog. He seems to be a loner. I have four other little dogs here and they all engage in play together. Little Pepper is not interested and will become over excitable and a little snappy around them. He is toy and food protective.
Pepper is quiet obedient and catches on quick. He does not travel well in the car at the moment. He sleeps well at night. At the moment Pepper is crated when I go out and at night. He enters his crate willingly. He is not an excessive barker. He does bark when I am in the front garden and he can’t be with me. That is improving. He loves his food, will even eat raw carrot and apple which are good for his teeth.
Pepper needs to be an only dog with someone who is home a lot. He needs someone who will be patient and tolerant of his issues. Pepper has only been in my care for a couple of weeks which is not long for him to recover from his abusive neglectful life. I can see a beautiful, loving and loyal dog. He just needs someone who will allow him to trust again. He has already learnt his boundaries very quickly.
It breaks my heart to know this little guy was treated so unfairly for most of his life. He deserves to live out his senior years with someone who will give him love, security stability and calm. In return you will get a loyal loving companion.
Pepper is improving everyday. I feel he will improve even quicker if he was an only dog. I have 4 more here and can’t always give him the attention he craves.
Even today as I am writing this my darling boy seems less restless and at ease.
