About Archie
Archie might look like a tough guy - but at heart, he is a gorgeous sweet soul.
All Archie wants is loads of snuggles and affection, and to be a much loved and included member of the family.
Daily exercise is essential for this active lad - it definitely brings out the best in him! Some of his favourite activities include short sprints and a bit of stair-climbing, just to mix things up a little :)
Archie's super-cute mannerisms include tapping you on the hand with his paw when you're on Facebook instead of paying attention to him. He's always desperate to please, but being extremely intelligent he'll need a solid commitment to the continuation of his obedience training. He is fully toilet trained, is au fait with the 'sit', 'stop', 'stay', 'drop', 'get back', '(go) slow' and '(go) quickly' commands, and is progressing very well with learning to 'heel'. Good boy, Archie!

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will allow me to live indoors with my family even when you're out for the day, while having access to a yard. I *really" adore night-time cuddles and am a bit of a teddy bear, if I'm lucky enough to be allowed in bed with you! - I like to sleep on your feet, or rest my head on your leg, or stretch my body out beside you while you sleep.
If you're an active single person looking for a 'dog life', a dedicated and hands-on couple, or a family with children aged 12 years and up, I think we could be a perfect match! I do thrive as an only pet, but I might consider sharing a home with an older, sedate dog with no interest in toys (I wants the toys ALL to myself!).
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Very high! So even if it's cold or rainy, I need my vigorous walk every day - I even have a waterproof jacket :)
In my foster home I have a great routine that's really working for me, which consists of a daily 'big' walk or run of an hour or so, then a shorter walk of 20 minutes in the evening.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I'll be a terrific friend to older children, 12 and over ideally. I'm fine around younger children in social situations, as long as there's an adult supervising and no balls or toys for me to chase - I tend to get a bit revved up then!
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: No cats, please! A doggy pal who's larger than me and low in energy could be a nice companion.

Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill in our adoption enquiry form at http://www.maggiesrescue.org/adoption-enquiry-dogs.
Please use this link rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile to streamline your enquiry.
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
