About Ruby
Ruby is a super sweet senior, she absolutely loves company and will gravitate to wherever you are and lay down either on your feet or the closest comfy bed.
She can be left at home alone without a problem, but she really does love company and would be best suited to someone who is home most of the time and happy to shower her with love, pats and belly rubs during her golden years.
Ruby sleeps inside overnight and will often swap between her bed or the sofa and snore her little heart out.
We’re not sure if she had toys in her previous life because when we first introduced them to her she whimpered and took to them like pups.
She now happily potters around often bringing one with her from room to room, to play with or sleep on, which is adorable. As a gorgeous sign of trust, she’ll often bring her toy over and pop it on our laps before taking it back.
We’ve discovered that she loves water play and enjoys biting at water from the hose. She normally has a playful outburst a couple of times during the day where she likes to pretend you’re going to chase her so she prances around but after a few minutes of play she’ll grab one of her toys and head back to bed.
Being a senior lady she loves her walks but struggles to keep pace with the younger dogs so a short stroll a few times a week would be fine by her.
She’s fine with car rides too but does need help getting in and out.
Ruby is unfortunately not suited to a home with cats and while she has enjoyed the company of the resident dog during her foster care, she isn’t overly fond of sharing the attention of her humans and would likely prefer to be the only dog.
She seems to love children but given her age, we’d recommend ages 8+.
Ruby has received a clean bill of health with the exception of some arthritis, for which she was given a course of cartrophen for and it’s recommended that she receive half yearly boosters to continue this treatment.
