About Roxy
Roxy | Female | Alaskan malamute | 2 years old
Roxy has been living with her brother, Alaska. They can be rehomed together or separately, but if separated they will need to be the only dog and are suitable for breed experienced homes only. They have lived with kids before and love them, but due to their size would not be suited to a home with very young children.
Roxy is a big girl weighing over 60kg and will need to lose quite a lot of weight to live a healthy active life she deserves, so she will need an owner who is prepared to be very strict with her diet. She is a sweet affectionate girl, but she needs to brush up on her lead manners. A family that is committed to obedience training and regular exercise is therefore required.
Roxy is a gentle soul that needs someone who can help her build up her confidence while shedding a few kegs, and she will need to attend a few medical appointments to help monitor her weight loss. You’ll also need to be made of strong stuff to resist those eyes that say feed me, I'm staring! The upheaval in her life means Roxy is a little clingy and anxious in new situations - a patient, positive environment that encourages her will see her blossom.
Roxy will require secure fencing at least 5 foot high - she might not be able to jump too high now but once she gets back to the right weight she is bound to become much more agile!
Medical notes
Roxy is a bit on the large side, weighing over 60kg. Her new owner will need to commit to have her on an appropriate diet with regular exercise to trim her down to her ideal weight.
