With a big heart comes big love, and that’s just one of the many things gorgeous 10 month old Elfie has to offer her new family. Child, dog and cat friendly this precious pup has all the love you will ever need. With her tame and affectionate nature, Elfie just loves human interaction. She just thrives on pats and cuddles.
In the two weeks she has been with us Elfie has grown immensely in confidence as she gets to know the world. If she is uncertain of something she may look to you for assurance, but then continues on in her stride. She is completely indifferent to the presence of our cat and loves the company of our kids and their friends of all ages.
She is so eager to please and is therefore is learning new things very quickly as we train her. She is learning to heel on the lead with minimal correction, she is getting used to not having to rush in for her food or a treat and is very proud of herself that she can now resist food until she is invited to eat.
Completely house trained she does not jump on the furniture (unless invited) and alerts us to let her out in the morning for a toiley stop! Fortunately for us she likes a sleep in so this isn’t at the crack of dawn.
Her bark is as big as her loving personality, but is only heard when she is alerted to something unfamiliar. With a quick acknowledgement from us that all is good, she promptly quietens down.
Though predominately outside enjoying the sunshine most of the time, she is a well behaved indoors pup who is aware of boundaries inside our house and acknowledges you when you alert her she has overstepped them into the wrong area.
Her energy levels are not quite as high as her canine foster sister but she loves her walks, and a good run around the backyard. Once they sorted out who was in charge in the first day or so of meeting they have played beautifully together. Given that she has never been a solo pup (she was rescued with her sister and has had foster siblings since) we would prefer Elfie is adopted to a family with another canine companion to share life with. At 10 months old there’s naturally still a lot to learn so training is recommended. Being a larger size breed a good sized fenced backyard with regular exercise is a must.
