About Xena – ND666
***Please ensure you read Xena’s profile prior to applying as she is looking for a specific home for her needs***
Xena is a young 3.4yr old mastiff with strong Cane Corso bloodlines weighing in at 41kgs at her last vet check-up. She is a gorgeous, gentle giant, she enjoys cuddles and belly scratches and would preferably be an indoor/outdoor dog as she loves to be close to her human pals. She was surrendered to SAFE due to no fault of her own, after being moved from 2 previous families and coming into SAFE’s care pregnant. She gave birth to 12 puppies who have been rehomed and now Xena being sterilised awaits a family where someone will look after her and give her the love she deserves. Xena suffers from quite a bit of anxiety being moved around and needs lots of love and attention to overcome this. Someone who is home often or another doggy companion she can bond to would be ideal as she is currently in care with a staffy. She is great on the lead and responds to her name when off the leash. Xena is a very social dog who enjoys the company of other dogs. Xena is great around children, although due to her size will be better suited to a family with older children. She is very timid and will take quite a bit of time to warm to new people so a family who is willing to help her open up to learn to trust with patience is a must. She is particularly wary around adult males and will keep her distance. Ideally a family in a female only home or a home where the male is very committed to building a relationship with her would be what Xena requires. Xena will also benefit from professional behaviour training to help overcome some anxiousness. Once she has settled in her family and bonded and connected with ‘her person’, she is the most loyal, loving and affectionate girl you will meet.
