About Blaze
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Blaze is a happy, playful, affectionate dog who loves company. He has been very well looked after.
He is currently living well with 3 other large dogs however, he has recently started to become anxious around dogs he does no know. This is why we are a little unsure about how he is with strange dogs at the park.
This big, brave handsome woofer is friendly and playful with his owners.
Ideal Owner
While Blaze is friendly and playful we recommend his new owner has experience with large dogs and preferably the breed. Any kids should be older as Blaze may accidentally knock a small child over.
Blaze is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home.
Blaze has lived well with 3 other large dogs but as he is starting to become anxious with strange dogs, he might be better as the only permanent dog in the home. This will depend on the experience of the new owner.
As Blaze is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters, time poor or novice dog owners.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Blaze will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
He will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- stay at home parent,
- someone that works from home,
- part time workers,
- empty nesters,
- active retirees,
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when home.
While Blaze prefers company he can cope alone.
Exercise Requirements
Low - short strolls or playtime at home.
When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs he starts off pulling but settles. He walks well in a quiet street where there are no distractions.
When OFF a lead ...
Sometimes good and sometimes bad.
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure with fencing at least shoulder height. He may take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
Good with Other Dogs he knows. Starting to become anxious around dogs he does not know.
Not Good with Cats
Good with Kids + 12 yrs - may accidentally knock a small child over

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
