About Duke (now Luke)
Lay out the royal carpet, I'm Duke!
My name is very apt as I am quite the regal-looking hound and I like to fool others into thinking that I was born from high dog royalty. In reality, if you were to ever meet a big, silly, cuddly fur ball of delight, that'd be me. If my humans ever have a bad day at work, I will come and greet them and cheer them up. Being close to my humans and making sure they're as happy as me is what I do most of the time.
I don't mind being alone for a few hours each day, and given a few toys and some treats,I will amuse myself while you're gone - and you can trust me inside the house too! I am toilet trained and will stick to destroying my toys only.
I'm excited by everything - smells, the outside, birds calling, other dogs but especially my humans. I'm a very smart dog too, I pick up things quickly. I like to go on lots of walks with my humans but fair warning true to my beagle nature I will smell everything! My foster humans are great and helping me manage this instinct and I am improving with my loose lead walking slowly, I would love a home where I can continue this training.
I am a bit of a grumbler, when my humans are constantly talking and talking at each other, and I'll just let out a groan to let them know I'm listening, and that they're very boring and should be paying attention to me!
One thing I have to warn you about - I like to sleep with my toys or my humans, and preferably with a pillow under my head. I saw my humans doing this and started to copy it. I may also steal your bed if you're not looking. My humans often come home to find out I have been lazing the day in their bed!
I would be happy to share my home with another dog, but I am looking for a home without cats and with children 15 years or older.
If you think I sound like the man for you, make sure you apply to meet me!
**Application Process** When on the Pet Rescue profile push the "enquire about this pet" button. Follow the prompts and in the message section please place information about the home you can provide. This includes current/past pets and their breed, children, and any other information relevant to training/exercise/energy requirements. We aim to reply to all applications within 5 business days. Please note all of our dog meet and greets occur at the adoption center in Campbellfield. The majority of our dogs are in a foster home not at the shelter so you need to apply via the website to meet them. Thank you. www.secondchanceanimalrescue.com.au ...because they all deserve one!
