Lucy

Meet gentle little (3.8kg) Lucy. She has a delightful personality. Her two favourite things in life are her twice daily 40 minute walks and sitting next to her foster mum on the couch. She also likes snoozing on foster mum’s lap when she’s working on her laptop. She has her own little happy dance when it’s walk time or when foster mum comes home after being out. Lucy is good on a lead and loves riding in the car.

She will let you know when there’s someone at the door but otherwise only occasionally barks. A habit foster mum is trying to break is Lucy barking at people as they come towards her on her walks. She doesn't bark savagely and does it only briefly. If spoken to soothingly when approaching the people, she tends not to do it, but that doesn't work 100% of the time :) She’s also a bit of a fussy eater (poached chicken is a favourite!).

Lucy is dog friendly and is happy to say hello to dogs she meets on her walks or in the park, though we’re not sure how she is with cats. However, Lucy is not good at sharing, so she would be best suited as an only pet and not in a home with young children. Lucy’s ideal home would be with someone moderately active who is home most of the time. She ignores the birds in the garden, but was aggressive to pet Macaws in her previous foster home, so would not be suitable for living with pet birds.

Lucy has had a nomadic journey in her two years to date – originally found in Geraldton, she then spent some time on a station before finding herself in Carnarvon and into SAFE’s care. No doubt as a result of all this upheaval, Lucy suffers some separation anxiety so she will need an understanding and patient adopter.

Lucy is tiny, but this affectionate little girl has a lot of love to give. After her gypsy life so far, all she asks for now is someone who will care for and love her and provide the stability she needs.
