About Cal ~ Wolfhound X (on trial 5/4/2019)
Meet Cal! He is a 9 months old, male, Wolfhound X. He has a beautiful and energetic personality. Cal’s ideal family will be able to spend lots of time with him teaching him new things and understanding that while he is a big boy, he is still a puppy and will do puppy things. Cal will need a home with secure fencing and a family with someone home more often than not.
Cal is current leaning basic commands and can sit, stay, wait, drop etc. He is toilet trained and crate trained. Cal currently sleeps in a crate inside and it is important that this continues in his adoptive home.
Cal just loves human attention. He does get somewhat destructive and tries to escape from small low gaps in fencing so will very secure fencing.
Cal is already a big boy. He is currently welcomed inside when his foster carer is home and sleeps inside. Being a young dog Cal is still learning not to jump up so would be best suited in a household without young children. Cal BEST responds to positive reinforcement only and a tiny piece of cheese will do the trick to get him in crate, sit etc. He does get excited when meeting new dogs at the beach etc and is learning not to do this. He loves interacting with dogs and humans. Cal would love a doggy friend who he could play with, preferably of medium to large size.
Cal just loves human company and wants to be around you. He is well socialised with other dogs and is a regular at the dog beach. Cal loves to go for a little frolic in the water’s edge but hasn’t been totally in swimming yet - his confidence is growing as it’s only been 4 times he tried it. It’s best start him swimming in calm waters. With cats and chooks Cal will get excited and mouths but he means no harm. It would be however best for chickens to be kept seperate. Cal might not be suited to a house with cats as he want to play.
It would be a big plus if you have a large friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion and playmate for Cal.
