Beautiful, little Karla is just the sweetest girl, who loves people and other dogs. She is very quiet and well behaved inside. She is reliably housetrained, knows not to go on the furniture and sleeps on her “mat/bed”. She is not fussy about food and has a good appetite. She sits and comes when called and leads well. She does not bark much when outside but is very active and loves to chew sticks, balls, plastic pot plant containers and other things that are out there. She LOVES playing with our other two dogs.
She is actually about the size of a small Kelpie but more compact, she weighs 22kgs. Her confirmation is robust and she has no allergies that we have seen. We have had her DNA tested as it was difficult to see what breeds she is. This is actually still the case as the 4 x breeds she is are a mix. They are GSP, Whippet, English Bull Terrier and Tenterfield Terrier! Her temperament gives her breeding away as she has a great temperament like all 4 of these breeds do. However, she is very fast like a whippet and has a very strong prey drive like the Terriers. She has not been tested with cats. If she was introduced carefully and FULLY supervised for a couple of weeks, she would probably be OK, but as stated, we don’t really know.
Karla came to us as a very traumatised puppy of about 9 months old. She was so scared she would not come in the house, could not lead as she just froze, and so petrified she shut down if you tried to pick her up. However, for a dog that was so scared there was NEVER any sign of fear biting. Her fear virtually disappeared in a few days, due to her gaining confidence from our very happy well-adjusted dogs. It shows how intelligent she is, to work out so quickly she was no longer in danger. She still has some confidence issues, which can be easily managed if you are aware of them – if you call her and you are standing above her or blocking a door way she can be worried and not come. She is great in the car with other dogs, but is wary to jump in and not so happy on her own in the car. This will improve with more trips and positive training.
We think she would be happy as an only dog, if she had plenty of time with her family inside and outside. She would also be great with another one, or two dogs, as long as they are confident, as she can play quite enthusiastically. If you are interested in Karla please apply/enquire using only this link
