About Ruby
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Ruby is sweet, affectionate and warm with people - not so good with other dogs that come into her space.
Once the 'apple of mum's eye' things changed after having a baby and now Ruby is not getting the attention she craves. This has lead to some anxiety and why she does not like being left alone. This may improve once in the right home.
Ruby is a loyal companions and will shadow her owner around the home or garden all day.
Ruby has a special ability and can 'tune in' to the emotions of her owner. She has provided much needed support through dark times.
Ideal Owner
Someone who is home more often then not looking for a devoted, affectionate and steadfast full time companion.
As Ruby wants all the attentions she should be the only permanent dog in the home.
Ruby is people orientated and needs to be part of family activities.
She will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters, time poor or novice dog owners.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Ruby barks when alone especially if outside.
She will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- stay at home parent,
- someone that works from home.
Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active (can miss a daily walk).
When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs she starts off pulling but settles.
When OFF a lead ...
Takes off and won't come back.
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure.
She may take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape. She needs shoulder height fencing all the way to the ground. Ruby may dart through an open gate or door and take off. At the moment she tends to be destructive if left alone.
Unpredictable with Other dogs that come into her space
Not Good with Cats
Good with Kids + 8 yrs - as may knock one over
Toilet Trained
Size 32 kgs

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
