About Eddie ~ Kelpie x (on trial 3/10/18)
Meet Eddie, the sweetest Kelpie boy who is only 12 months old and is looking for his dream home. It would be one where he has lots of company and you are his new best friend. Eddie is a happy little man living in a world where everything is a new adventure. He is best buddies with his foster sister and they get on perfectly without a single disagreement. Eddie he would definitely love a foster brother or sister to play with and do doggy things with.
Eddie loves everyone. He is happy, gentle, sweet and an enthusiastic, lightweight with quite a small build; but doesn’t get under foot.
I would love to see him fit into a few different types of families. Because he is light and gentle, I think he might be a wonderful companion for someone that may have an illness or mobility issues and is looking for love and laughter.
Eddie would also fit perfectly into an active young family where he isn’t alone too often. Although he has only spoken to our neighbourhood children through the fence, I am confident that he would make a beautiful childhood buddy for young children to grow up with.
Up until now, Eddie hasn’t had much attention in his little life, having spent his 12 months chained up – but you wouldn’t know it because he loves life so much that he is always happy and smiling. He is absolutely thriving in his foster home where he is part of the family.
Eddie is gentle, agile and enthusiastically enjoys every moment of life. He would be a wonderful project for his new family to train him to do all sorts of tricks. He should be a superstar very quickly because he is eager to please, and will benefit from the mental stimulation and variety.
Eddie came into care with no training at all, and in just a week he has beautiful manners and is learning to respond to voice and hand gesture commands every day. He walks well on a lead and is quickly and successfully learning toilet training, to sit, stay, go outside/away, to come when called (even if he doesn’t really want to). He is learning not to bark when other dogs bark, or to loud noises and sirens and if he thinks he is alone. It has only been a day on that one, but he is improving already!
Eddie will make a great little guard dog, he lets you know if someone is there but settles quickly. He welcomes friends as though they are visiting him.
Eddie loves his food, especially when it comes in a form of peanut butter and kibble hiding in a Kong. Food and toys are his favourite combination! He plays tug of war with his foster sister, and loves unstuffing soft toys and pillows (but has not damaged anything that he shouldn’t).
Eddie used to sleep outside in the past, but now he sleeps Inside with the back door open for easy access through the night. Apart from the first night at his foster home he has not had a single accident.
Although Eddie loves dogs and people however he hasn’t been tested with cats, pocket pets or birds.
This little boy is a real catch. He is very much a puppy seeing the world for the first time.
