About Rufus
Rufus is a German Shepherd cross Border Collie who has come into care from the local animal shelter. He is a very quiet and shy boy who will suit a home where he can receive lots of cuddles and with calm folk who understand he has come from a troubled past.
Rufus is only 23 kilos so a smaller dog, who is good with other dogs no aggression and has shown no interest in chasing cats.
This gentle soul came into care with his tail tucked right up between his legs and was none responsive to voice commands.
Slowly his foster carers gently gave Rufus time to come to terms with his new home and fur friend Maggie. This boy has no aggression, just looks pleadingly into your eyes for reassurance.
So we are seeking a home with a couple or a single caring person who will persevere with this boys anxiety and given time we can see he will connect and his true loving nature will emerge.
We don’t know what Rufus has suffered in his past life to make him unsure of people but in the short time he has been in care he has bonded with his carers and now sleeps beside their bed and loves his morning walks.
Maggie his fur buddy and Rufus are good mates and happily sleep together.
Rufus being a border collie x German Shepherd will require secure fencing and definitely a home who will ensure he can sleep inside as he is completely house trained.
If you have the patience, caring capacity to continue to bring out the true nature of this gorgeous boy then please ring Linda on 0497 398 062.
Medical notes
Rufus is microchipped, desexed, vaccinated and has been wormed and tick and flea treated.
Rufus is on heartworm protection (monthly chewable).

Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
