About Boo Boo
Boo Boo is looking for a foster to adopt home, please read his medical notes carefully before applying for Boo.
Boo was surrendered to us due to a crisis in his owner's life. Due to difficult circumstances, Boo had been through some traumatic incidences and for this reason, was quite traumatised when he entered care. He spent time with our dog trainer in her home, and she described him as the saddest dog she had ever met.
Boo is sweet, affectionate and devoted. He is no longer depressed, and finds lots of joy in day to day life, although he thrives with routine and familiarity. He is a wonderful companion however, he needs a patient owner to understands that it will take Boo some time to settle in his new home.
Boo can be vocal when distressed, but with patience and love, he settles with time and gentleness. The ideal home would be someone who is experienced with the Italian Greyhound breed, and someone who is patient and kind.
Boo can be distressed in the car but enjoys walks and outings with his foster family. New people can be frightening for him, but he is wholeheartedly devoted to those he loves.
Boo loves to be close to those he loves and would do best in a home with lots of company. He has lived with other small, calm dogs, however, has also been an only dog. He can be happy in both environments as long as he has lots of human company and kindness.
Due to Boo's fine frame and fragile nature, he requires a home without small children.
Our team are committed to settling Boo into his new home and will provide support in the process.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant X-rays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Boo has complex medical needs and will be in foster care for a while longer. For this reason, we'd love to find his forever home and sign them up as foster carers so we can gradually support Boo in his transition from foster to forever.
Boo has a liver issue which is managed by supplements and diet. He will need to be on a liver support diet for the rest of his life. Biopsies and comprehensive blood tests have been done, and surgery is not an option for the type of liver disorder he has.
Boo has luxating patellas and he had surgery in June. He is healing well but we recommend joint support supplements to help his healing.
Finally, Boo has severe anxiety due to a difficult past. He is on daily anxiety medication. He needs to visit the behaviour vet at Greencross KEDRON whilst he is a foster dog so that his doctor can monitor his medication doses and support his transition to new home.
If you are interested in offering Boo a permanent home, however are able to foster him first, and are commited to taking him to our vet in Kedron whilst he was a foster, we would love to hear from you.
