About Maggie | Rare Find
Good with Other Dogs - excitable
Not Good with Cats
Good with Kids + 8 yrs
Toilet Trained
Size 25 kgs
Ideal Owner
Dogs like Maggie are rare and always in high demand.
She is good natured and has a warm, affectionate personality. She is playful and eager to please.
Maggie will thrive in a home with people who are passionate about dogs and see dogs as another family member.
Maggie is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as she is a central focus when people are home. She would be fine with another friendly permanent dog around the same size but this is not essential.
As Maggie is people orientated she needs to be part of family activities.
She will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters or time poor.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Maggie will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- stay at home parent,
- someone that works from home,
- part time workers,
- empty nesters,
- active retirees,
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as Maggie is a central focus when home. Another friendly dog around the same size would be nice but not essential.
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Maggie enjoys human company but her owners are no longer able to give her the attention and time she deserves.
She likes chasing and catching squeaky balls and does not seem to have any dislikes or fears.
She can be a bit of an excitable 'goof ball' when playing which is why we recommend any other dogs be around the same size and kids be 8 yrs plus.
She's a beautiful, loving dog.
Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active. Loves a daily walk or two. Chases and catches balls.
When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs she starts off pulling but settles.
When OFF a lead ...
Takes off and won't come back. She is likely to respond well to training.
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure. She will dart through an open gate or door and take off. Shoulder height fencing is adequate.

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
