About Nacho
After being in foster care for six months and over $6,000 in veterinary costs, Nacho our beautiful 5 and a half year old rescue Pug has finally been given the all clear from our medical specialists to find his furever home 👏
Nacho requires a family home environment that is quiet and relaxed, where he can feel safe and secure and be able to potter around at this own pace. He requires a patient family that will not push him to join in but wait patiently for Nacho to join in when he feels comfortable enough to do so 🙂
Nacho is great with older children but really loves the company of adults, more so females. Nacho can definitely be an only pet however we will only re home him as an only pet if someone is home a lot to ensure he has company during the day. Ideally we would love Nacho to be adopted to someone that works from home or to someone who is retired that will have plenty of time for him.
Nacho will need to be walked twice a day to help keep him mobile and his ongoing diet will need to be managed so that he does not gain excess weight. Excess weight in Nacho (and for all Pugs) will have a negative impact to his joints and organs, as well as this, the larger the Pug, the harder it is for them to breathe and making them generally unhealthy.
Through your kind donations 🙏 Nacho underwent orthopaedic surgery earlier this year to repair both knees at a cost of $3000, therefore his weight will need to be managed and ongoing exercise is a must. Nacho also requires being on long term medication (both for joint support and anxiety) so his new family will have to be prepared to ensure that Nacho receives these daily.
Nacho’s story is below, however we are still asking for any donations to help us pay Nacho’s very expensive vet bills. Every dollar that is donated goes towards paying our vet bills. You can donate by clicking on the DONATE button located just below our cover photo on our Facebook page or via the following link:

We think it’s important to give you a bit of background on this special boy...Nacho was a Gumtree purchase, he was undesexed and was previously used and abused for breeding purposes. When Nacho arrived into our care, he was petrified, anxious and this little boy was in a lot pain resulting from untreated health issues 😥
While Nacho had a long list of problems for our vets to work through, the first issue was to relieve him of his pain, so off to our wonderful vets Caring Country Vets - Thirlmere and Tahmoor he went.
His vet work included the following: desexing, soft palate surgery and nostril widening. He has also had his yearly vaccinations (C5 and heartworm), dental work including extractions and entropian correction surgery (eye lid correction surgery). A comprehensive blood test was also completed, as was a dry eye test and X-rays. Upon a thorough examination of his X-rays it was noted that he required orthopaedic surgery to repair both knees, which was undertaken.
Along with all of Nacho’s surgeries, his underlying anxiety issues still had to be treated. This little boy was petrified and especially of any males. Under the close supervision of our vets, he is currently on long term anti-anxiety medication. These medications do not make Nacho drowsy, but rather calm him down.
If you believe you are able to provide Nacho with the loving home that he requires we are interested in hearing from you. You can submit an application via the link below (please provide as much information as you can in your application):
