About Duckie ~ Kelpie (on trial 29/9/2018)
My name is Duckie, and I'm a 2 to 3yo kelpie boy. I’m SUPER sweet. I LOVE human company and just want to hang out and be around people as much as I can. I love dogs too and would be happy to have a doggy brother or sister in my forever home. I'd be a very good friend and playmate to them and I’m quite submissive.
I have classic kelpie good looks but I'm smaller than average, only 17kg.
I adore children. Sometimes I jump up a bit but when I do, it’s really slow and gentle. I'd probably be best with children 5 years and older.
I don't remember, but I must've had a pretty rough start to life. Dog Rescue Newcastle found me in a pound and saved my life! When I came to my foster home I was afraid of some things such as toys, sudden noises, and sticks, but I'm feeling much more relaxed now that I feel safe.
When I first came I was a bit frightened and would try to jump the fence but those days are behind me. Now that I’m more comfortable, I’m a lot more settled and love to sun bake on the back deck all day. I’ll need 6ft fences and a very secure yard, just to be safe. I usually spend the day outside but come inside for dinner and to sleep at night.
I’m REALLY food motivated and my training is coming along quite quickly. Better than my foster brother and sister! I walk great on the lead and off. I still need a little work on my recall, but I don’t bolt or wander too far when I’m at the park. I go for a 5km walk most mornings and will need daily exercise in my forever home too.
I slotted into my foster home very easily. I get along great with the other two dogs here (1 male and 1 female) and I even get along with 2 cats! My foster parents tell me I'm a very good boy! I'm sure that I'll settle into my forever home like I've always been there. I'm so looking forward to a home of my very own.
For more information or to meet Duckie, please contact his foster carer Andrew on 0422 875 205 or email andrewfox82@gmail.com. Duckie is in foster care in Waratah, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Duckie's adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom of the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two-week trial begins on the day of adoption.
