Rocky is a stunning 12 month old male kelpie that came into foster care in physically great condition but emotionally a little stunted. We believe our beautiful boy may unfortunately, just like his name, have had a rocky start to life.

In the loving care of his foster mum, Rocky is responding really well to training and affection. He is now learning that humans are good and that affection is good and that playing is fun. He constantly refers back to his foster mum for cuddles, rubs and reassurance before heading off to sniff and play again.

Rocky is great with other dogs. He would do well with a foster sibling of similar size and energy level. He was very hesitant about playing at the start, but has really started to seek out other dogs to run and engage with.

Rocky is incredibly smart and will thrive with ongoing training, as this will stimulate his brain and will build a positive bond with his new owner, as he loves to show off just how clever he is. He may really enjoy agility or herding activites.

Due to his tough start to life, we believe that Rocky would be best suited to an adopter who is not away from home for really long work days or ideally where he could go to work with his new best friend. He has spent too much time isolated and starved for affection to become just a “backyard” dog. He also appears to be a very loyal and serious boy who may do best with a single owner rather than a family of people. We believe he will bond strongly to his person and will thrive in that relationship.

Rocky is a strong boy and is learning to walk nicely on a lead but occasionally he forgets his manners and pulls in the wrong direction. With a little training Rocky would be a great jogging companion as he is super fit and loves to run.

Ideally it would be great if his new adopter could keep Rockys name, as he has been learning to respond to this ….. so if you’ve always wanted a stunning, intelligent dog called Rocky…. Look no further !!!!

Rocky is such an amazing boy and in many ways is a blank canvas ready to be moulded. So if you have a little time to spend on training, have pockets full of affection to share PLUS love and patience to continue his education that humans are good …. Rocky may well be the most loyal, smart and rewarding best friend you have ever had.
