About Bennie ~ Blue Heeler x Husky (on trial 14/1/19)
Hi, my name is Bennie and I’m a very handsome male, 2 year old Blue Heeler x Husky. I’m a medium sized dog, have plenty of energy but love to snuggle up whenever I can.
My ideal forever home is one where I’m treated as a member of the family, and I’m welcome inside when people are home. I will need a good sized fenced yard to explore and as I’m very dog friendly and a playmate would be fantastic.
I’m not overly interested in ball games or chasing a stick, I prefer to explore all the interesting smells around me. I’m happy not sleeping indoors at night provided that my bed is outside in a sheltered position from wind and rain such as a kennel as I have a nice thick coat to keep me warm on cool nights.
I am house trained and will go outside to use the bathroom, I had a few accidents my first night but haven’t since. I learn quickly, as its in my nature to please my human friends. In my short time in foster care I’ve learnt to sit and wait patiently for my dinner and go to bed when my foster parents do. My foster parents have been quite strict with my diet. I have two meals a day with the occasional treat and this keeps my coat in perfect condition.
I don’t bark, unless I hear something unexpected or there is a commotion at the door, but if you tell me everything’s okay I settle down right away. I do have a habit of jumping up to greet you, which is almost unnoticeable with how gentle I am, but I’m quickly learning that I get more attention if I sit quietly at your feet. I'm still learning to walk on the lead but I learn quickly and I just need the practice. Training classes would be a good idea for me at the beginning so that I get some really good habits when out in public places and near traffic.
I wouldn’t be worried if you had to work away from home through the day, as long as I had a comfy place to lounge around on. I’d be very happy to be left with a bone. While I haven’t been tested off leash out in the world, my recall at home is very good and I come straight to you when you call me, especially if I think you have something tasty to share.
I’m not sure how I would be with young children as I have not had any exposure to them. I’ve not met any cats or pocket pets during my time in foster care, so my parents aren’t sure how I would go with them. I’m still a bit shy around the car but once in and settled I will either sit and watch everything go by or curl up and have a nap until we reach our destination. I’ve loved all the humans I’ve met, but I can’t wait to meet my new family. Will that be you? If so, please don’t wait to get into contact. I have so much love to give and can’t wait to start my life with you.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two-week trial begins on the day of adoption.
