About Murphy ~ Kelpie x Border Collie (on trial 1/9/18)
Introducing Murphy……
Murphy is an adorable 5yr old male Kelpie x Border Collie, and a pretty quiet and chilled one at that. We are helping Murphy find a new home as his family circumstances have changed. At the age of five, Murphy is well and truly past the point of chewing, digging, jumping and barking unnecessarily.
He weighs around 20kgs and is in great health and has been well looked after. He greets people warmly and is very gentle in his approach and won’t jump all over them for attention. He socialises well with other dogs, but is a bit uncertain around cats, horses and kangaroos and may bark at them.
Murphy isn’t a needy dog and as much as he does love a cuddle and a pat he is also quite happy chilling on his mat or basking in the sun. He is used to sleeping in his kennel which is in a cosy corner in the patio area, but he is also quite content sleeping inside on his mat should he be allowed. Murphy however, isn’t a fan of storms or fireworks so it’s important that he be allowed inside during these times as this is where he feels safest; inside with the family. He is house trained and knows other basic commands like sitting on his mat when he’s asked, sitting in general and come. He also responds to being asked to stop barking if there’s a commotion going on next door or if something startles him.
Despite being a pretty chilled dog, Murphy still loves going for walks, playing tug-o-war and catching a tennis ball, so it is important that he remains active with a daily walk or a game out the back. He would best be suited to a home environment where he still gets to be active and social outside the backyard but can be quiet and chilled when at home. Kids 10yrs and older would be more suited to Murphy as he gets a bit nervous around the unpredictability of little kids. He is used to being an only dog, but I’m sure if he had another calm and friendly furry friend to hang with, he’d be ok; As long as their meet and greet went well.
Murphy is microchipped, desexed, vaccinated, wormed and has just recently had his teeth scaled and cleaned. He is currently located near Maitland, NSW and his adoption fee is $350.
If you think Murphy will be a good fit, please fill out the adoption questionnaire and forward it to Olivia at horvat13@gmail.com

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
