About Prince
Hi. My name is Prince.
I am a beautiful fawn, 4.5 year old greyhound who raced as Zipping Prince, I was lightning quick and achieved some great things in my career, but the day has come and I am ready for my retirement.
Let me tell you a bit about myself.
When I came to my new foster home I was a bit scared. I didn’t know where anything was – it wasn’t like my other home. I walked around for a while looking and sniffing to try and understand where things where and what they were. After some dinner and a look outside, I was okay to get back up on the deck (3 steps high) in a single jump. I am fine getting up and down the deck.
Then it came to bed time and I wasn’t sure where to sleep. So I paced a little bit more. My Dad was really good and showed me my new bed, which was in the bedroom near where my Foster parents sleep. I settled down and went to sleep and I slept through the night easily.
I love going for walks and meeting new friends. The little dogs that bark at me, I would love to play with them, but I am too big for them, so I watch them and then watch them go by. I also love running around the backyard most days. I have also been to the beach and my foster Dad took me in to the water for a swim the other day when it was warm and I really loved it. I stand for a wash but I get cold quickly so I might need to get dried off. I stand for this too.
I am ok to be left alone during the day and can be alone upto 8-9 hrs but I am very excited to see you when you return home from work. I will ‘talk’ to you when I hear you arrive and while you are getting from the car to see me. When my foster Mum goes out, she always give me a treat so I get distracted and don’t try and run out with her. She also leaves the radio on for me so I’m not so lonely – usually talking. I also love playing with my soft, squeaky toys. I have a few of them and love them all.
I love my bed and sleeping. At night, I sleep near my parent’s bed and I like to know where they are. I have never tried to get up on their bed, so you could keep it that way if you wanted to but I would be happy to snuggle in your bed if you teach me!
When I am sleeping, I do not like to be woken up. A handsome prince like me needs his handsome sleep ya know! Call my name and let me know you are there or call me to you instead.
I aim to please and I understand he words ‘not for Prince’, ‘no’, ‘ah ah’, ‘good boy’, ‘stand’ – when I get to a curb when walking, and ‘go’ to cross the road. I also know ‘in your bed’, and ‘lie down’. I’m pretty smart don’t ya think?!
I have good table manners and wont bother you. If I come around for a look or sniff, just tell me “not for Prince” and I will go lay on my bed.
I can be a bit shy to start, but once I get to know you I will be your best mate. I love people. I am good with other dogs but would be best to live on my own as an only dog. I enjoy socilaising with other dogs but always need to be reminded of my manners with the small things. I am NOT cat tolerant and would really like to chase them. Its what us dogs do!
I am good with kids but would prefer mature kids to live with.
If you think you would like to meet me, let my friends at BTG know!
I can't wait to meet you!
Luv,
Prince
