About Hugo ~ Bulldog x Koolie x BC pup (On trial 20/8/18
Hugo is a sweet and mischievous 10 week-old Australian Bulldog x Koolie x Border Collie. He loves cuddles and kisses and a romp around the backyard with his sister and the big dogs. He needs a home full of love and adventures where he is an integral part of the family.
He loves to wrestle with his sister and ESPECIALLY his big foster brother! They all roll around making Tasmanian Devil noises, and it is very funny to watch! He also loves his people, and got very attached to his foster mum very quickly. He’ll come seeking affection armed with the best puppy stare - it’ll turn your heart into a gooey mess immediately.
Hugo thinks the kitties are very exciting, and will chase them if they run away, but just thinks they would be good playmates. So homes with cats or pocket pets would have to be prepared for a little adjustment period if the animals weren’t used to pups. Hugo would love another dog to be his companion, but has also shown an independent side, so wouldn’t be necessary as long as he has human company (and play time) more often than not. Hugo needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. He will grow up to be a medium size dog. You need good fencing with no small gaps. He can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).
Hugo is still learning to walk on the lead, but is definitely getting the hang of it! Likewise with toilet training - fewer messes every day! He’s also great at sitting and is learning to lie down. Hugo’s still a very young puppy who is learning to not play-bite with his sharp little teeth so he is best suited for children 8 years and older. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
Hugo's sister Tabitha is also available for adoption.
As Hugo is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he's approximately 5 months old.
If you have a loving home you would like the awesome Hugo to be part of, please fill in an application and send it through, or feel free to ask any questions. For more information or to meet Hugo, please email his foster mum Ellen at ellen.foley55@gmail.com. Hugo is in Newcastle, NSW.
Hugo's adoption fee is $550 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he's been treated for fleas and worms. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
