About Tarni
Tarni was surrendered by her heartbroken owner and we have promised her that we will find the best of homes for Tarni
For this reason we are asking anyone interested in meeting either of them to send us a PM with plenty of info on who you are and the lifestyle you lead so we can work with the owners to choose the perfect match.
Please understand the sensitivity of these adoptions and be patient with us.
1. Tarni – Ball of Fluff
Hi there! My name is Tarni, I turned 7 in early February. I’m a Maltese x Shih Tzu, but the Shih Tzu part is very unnoticeable.
I love to cuddle next to you and stretch on your chest when I wake up. While I like to sleep, I get very playful at times and love wrestling or fetching a small toy or an old sock (The only thing I like ripping is old toilet rolls if they’re around). Some say I’m a cat dog, since I’ve hung out with many of them and spend of time snoozing or just following you around. I’m also a bit of a heater, so I’m happy to be used for warmth in the cooler nights when you snuggle me.
I’ve very responsive, and I tend to bark at people who go at the front door, even if I know you. As for toilet training, I will go for go outside if I need to go. If you’re a light sleeper and notice me shaking, it could be me trying to hold it in so just let me out if you can. I may have an accident if I’m not used to the place, but I will try to go on a puppy pad if it’s laid out for me. Car rides are something I’ve gotten used to and I’ll jump right in the passenger seat for a ride. While I don’t sit down when told, I like to balance on my hindlegs and off High 5’s for those who want it. I won’t steal food from the plate like I used to, unless you say it’s okay. (I have a weak spot for French fries!)
I don’t mind other kids, but they have to understand that I like my space and I don’t like being picked up very much. While saying that, I don’t like big dogs unless they’re older and less playful. I get along great with dogs my size, and I get rather nervous around cats bigger than me. (I’m a tiny dog.)
However, I do not like being left alone. I like to cry out for some human comfort, so I would prefer to have someone who is home most of the day. This year I lost 17 teeth, so I’ll look a bit silly but I still have my molars for crunching on some Science Hill Youthful Vitality! I’m still loved dearly for my big brown eyes and little paws.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, my owner had to make sure I got into a good home. She’s grateful that we’ve spent many years together, but wants what’s best for me. We’re both very sad that we have to go different ways, but I know that she’ll never forget me and she knows I’ll never forget her.
We would love her owner to have photo updates from Time to time.
