About Rex ~ Kelpie x Cattle Dog (on trial 9/9/18)
Hi my name is Rex , I am a 10 month old Kelpie x Cattle Dog.
I was privately surrendered, due to no fault of my own. I was being bullied by the other dog, my owners thought best for me to find a loving and stress free home. I could tell it was hard for them to let me go as my head was wet with tears as I was handed to my foster carers, who were then emotional all the way home and gave me lots of pats and cuddles. Humans are funny animals but I like them.
I am a playful puppy who enjoys playing tug of war, swimming and going for walks. Actually I’m not sure what I enjoy most, the fun when I am out and about or the adventure in the car!
I love spending time with my humans. I am very loyal, affectionate and will be your shadow no matter which room you are walking to in the house. So if you want boundaries set with me let me know and we will discuss this further, like do you really need the door shut to the bathroom? At least leave something warm for me to lay on while I am waiting for you.
I have some pretty cool basic things I have been taught, like I can sit , stay and lay, treats will get me there every time. With the right person I would love to learn more as I am a fast learner.
I am currently living with two single ladies a 10 year old Staffy x Boxer and a 3 year old Red Cattle Dog. I play with the one closer to my age a bit more as she has a bit more time and energy for me, but I know they both love having me here.
I REALLY love being around my humans so I’ve been a clever boy and learned to go outside to do my business, I had two accidents on the first night at my new home as I was a little nervous as you can understand. I like sleeping inside on a bed or a blanket. But once your alarm goes off be prepared for lots of hugs and kisses!
In my short time I have been sooooo lucky to have spent time with people of all ages from 3 to 83! This has been through my owners, foster carers and my fun day out at a nursing home!
When you are home with me I am pretty chilled. I’ll come for pats, watch a movie and have a snooze btw healthy snacks for me don’t go astray while your munching on a block of chocolate watching Sleepless in Seattle again on a Saturday night.
Now this may also be a good time to mention during times while you’re out earning money for me or buying me food do yourself a favour don’t leave your favourite shoes or handbag lying around or else you with find this Devil Chews Prada. So a few toys wouldn’t go astray in that shopping basket.
I can live with other dogs or if I really have to I could get by on my own. I’d be happy to live with a family or someone who is retired to spoil me and spend lots of time with me. I haven’t spent any time with those funny little meowing creatures so I don’t know what I’d do with one of them around. Apparently chickens and I do not get on well so let’s just not go there.
I’m pretty easy on the tooth and love a good feed of pretty much anything, feel free to share the Sunday roast or a good pasta and veg dish with me anytime though.
At the end of the day I am just a cute little lost soul in this big wide world with lots of love to give to the right person in my furever home. Is that going to be you?

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format:
https://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/adoptionquestionnaire.docx
or PDF: https://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
