About Tui
This delightful little girl really is a pleasure to have around. She weighs in at a petite 10 kg, and is great with kids, loves playing with her big doggy friends, but if left alone just chills out or amuses herself. She gets really excited around other dogs and is desperate to meet them. She especially loves chasey games and dog wrestling. Tui is reliable off lead, and extremely friendly and sweet to humans of all ages.
Tui is used to living inside now, and has excellent house manners and is house trained. She loves her bed, but also likes the couch and would weasel her way into a human bed if possible. Tui would make a great family pet, especially with older kids as she is an active dog and would love someone to run around after.
Tui came to us from the APY lands, where she was a stray puppy with a nasty eye injury. It took a while for us to travel her the 1500 kilometers to get to us, with a number of people helping her on her journey. Now her injured eye has been removed, and she has had a nice long period in foster care to recover in sprit and body. Her foster carer is her biggest fan, but while Tui loves her foster home, she is more than ready to go out and win friends in the big wide world. She will be a very loyal and loving companion, and would especially excel in a home with another boisterous playful dog.
Our rescue and rehabilitation work happens in Central Australia, but because of the scarcity of adopters locally, our re-homing operation is in South Australia. Tui's adoption fee includes crate hire, courier transport by road from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs, and a direct flight from Alice Springs to Adelaide. Tui is currently in foster care in Claire SA. Approved applicants will be able to meet and greet her there.
Medical notes
Tui sustained trauma to her eye as a puppy and lost the eye. The eye has been permanently closed by the vet and will not trouble her further.
