About Elton
❤️ Adopt me - Elton ❤️
Elton (John) is a big love bug who came from a Caravan Park where he was living as a stray before Happy Tails rescued him and he started his journey to finding his forever home.
He headbutts with his very round head and adores feet so if you like to relax with your feet up, then Elton will be by your side at all times (meaning that he will rub his face on your feet and shoes whenever he gets the opportunity 😂)
He is a bit quiet for the first day or so as he figures out the new humans, smells and surroundings but once he realises he is safe he will be purring and chatting away too you alllll day (& night if you’re awake).
He is litter trained and will curl up at your feet or behind your head at night time and protect you while you sleep. Although Elton is FIV positive, if your cats have the FIV vaccination then they can co-exist with no worries! Elton loves other cats and wants to be around them as much as possible, but he would also benefit with being an only child as he will lap up the spoiling and be your purring little shadow.
Elton is a total love bug who hasn’t shown any signs of anxiety or food aggression and would make a great family cat as he is well behaved and an absolute sweetheart!

What is feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)?
FIV is a viral disease which affects the immune system of a cat. Immunodeficiency is the medical term used to describe the bodies inability to develop a normal immune response. Most cats do not show symptoms and have a normal life expectancy however they are prone to developing other infections.
How is it transmitted and who can get FIV?
FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs, only to other cats through deep bite wounds where the saliva enters the blood stream. This disease is commonly seen in outdoor cats who fight… another reason to keep your cat indoors!
How long do FIV+ cats live for?
FIV cats can live long and healthy lives as long as they are fed a good quality palatable diet to encourage good nutrition, kept indoors and keep their parasite control up to date. It is recommended that FIV cats visit the vet for a check-up twice a year. It is important that an FIV+ cat lives in a stress-free home to reduce the chances of it becoming sick.
Can my cat live with an FIV+ cat?
Yes. A cat that does not have FIV can live with an FIV positive as long they do not aggressively fight. Cats can share the same water and food bowl and litter tray without spreading the disease. Cats can groom each other and play fight without spreading the disease. There is an FIV vaccination that helps to protect a cat against FIV however if they are tested for FIV they will test positive due to the antibodies.
