About Sandy
If you look closely and speak softly you will see a lowered head and downward gaze, a low wagging tail and paddling feet moving to the front of the kennel...this is Sandy. Arriving at the shelter scared and overwhelmed, Sandy needed time to form bonds with the staff and while she is certainly ready to move on from the shelter, she is looking for a very special home.
Sandy thrives with human company, a true "(hu)man's best friend". Her companionship is the quiet and sturdy kind; sometimes pats and cuddles are too much for this girl and she prefers just to have someone nearby to hang out with. A gentle and patient approach will be necessary to win Sandy's heart and to help her settle into a new home environment. She will do best in a mature household as very young children (under 12yrs) might be a little too energetic for her. Sandy will also benefit from living with someone who spends a lot of time at home or can include her in their daily routine as much as possible. A daily walk to enjoy new sights and smells will keep her figure looking good and her mind engaged; a good puzzle toy or interactive games at home will also be great mental stimulation.
Sandy has lived with a dog before and has proven herself very tolerant of pooches here at the shelter with lesser manners than her own. While she will be perfectly manageable seeing other dogs around the neighbourhood, Sandy will ideally be the only pooch in her new digs so that she can adapt in her own time without the pressure of a new canine relationship.
If you can see the sweet and loyal lady behind the lowered head and downward gaze, you may be the perfect new guardian for Sandy. Please ask our friendly staff if you would like to meet her.
