About Vinnie ~ Cattle Dog (on trial 28/12/18)
A loyal dog with a heart of gold! Vinnie is a beautiful 18 month Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog. His previous life is a bit of a mystery but since coming into foster care, he has blossomed into such a warm-hearted and loving dog.
Vinnie has a shy spirit and is a very timid and submissive dog. He can take a couple of days to warm to new people but his needs are simple - he just wants to be loved! He is a beautiful soul and for someone willing to open their heart to him and build his confidence, he will reward you with unconditional love and loyalty.
Vinnie is a very smart dog and eager to please - he sits, drops, comes and stays (some of the time!) and has very good recall. He loves food and tasty treats which make him a pleasure to train. He has been taught how to sit for his meals and with further training he will grow into a well rounded adult.
Vinnie is a typical cattle dog - very loyal and wants nothing more than to be included as part of the family. He loves walks and playing with his foster carer and his canine pals but is equally happy relaxing inside whilst everyone cooks or watches TV. He loves being wherever his family is, and would do well as an inside/outside dog. He is toilet trained and has so far had no accidents inside the house.
Vinnie loves company and would suit someone home a lot of the time who will include him in their daily routine and focus on his training. He has previously lived with school-aged children and is best with gentle older kids or teenagers who have good manners with dogs (especially shy ones). He gets along well with other dogs and is currently living with a cavoodle (who bosses him around occasionally!) and a border collie x . He likes chasing his foster brother Rufus when playing ball and will bark at him or nip at his heels in typical cattle dog style. He needs further training on this as many dogs won’t enjoy this behaviour and get snappy with him. He’s an impulsive young boy who requires consistency, routine and someone to guide him in refining his manners with other dogs.
Vinnie is young and exuberant and would love an energetic home - he’d be a fantastic jogging partner. We’d prefer him to be adopted into a home as an only dog so his one-on-one training and socialisation can be the focus for a few years. He hasn’t been tested with cats or chickens however we’d prefer a home without them as he likes to chase birds at the park.
Vinnie enjoys paddling in water and will swim in the lake with his current canine foster brothers. He likes to follow his older foster brother everywhere - this can be a tad annoying for older dogs who just want some space and time away from his shenaninghans!
In a very short time, Vinnie has come to have a special place in our hearts and we believe that such a special dog like him should have a home where he can get all of the love and attention he deserves. Vinnie can be shy with men until they win him over - women can quickly win his love and affection (treats also help!)
