About Solomon D0605 adopted 12/9/18
Meet Solomon. This lovely young boy can be a little timid of new situations until he settles in, however he soon makes friends. He is friendly and will greet new people for a pat.
ENERGY LEVEL/REQUIREMENTS
Being a Kelpie, Solomon loves to run, herd, chase and play.. oh, and did we mention the running?! He would make a great running partner or be perfect for agility, flyball or frisbee! He will need a home who can commit to enough exercise to burn up his energy and provide him with that mental and physical stimulation which Kelpies need. He's a smart boy so training shouldn't be too tricky.
He walks well on the lead however does appear to have a tendency to want to chase cars, so will need some training in this area. He's still a very young dog and learning how to interact with his environment.
A home where someone is around for interaction and companionship at least part of the day would be great whilst this boy is still young. He won't suit being left for long hours on his own as he is too smart/active. Solomon doesn't currently show any inclination to escape his property.
COMPATIBILITY WITH DOGS/OTHER PETS
Solomon is great with other dogs and loves tagging along with the other dog in his foster home, so we know he would really enjoy having another dog for companionship in his new home. He is always up for a round of zoomies or chasey. He is being fostered on a property so we are hoping to be able to update soon on how he reacts to horses/stock.
COMPATIBILITY WITH CHILDREN
Solomon has the natural Kelpie herding/chasing instinct and nip hands when he gets excited, so for this reason he may do best in a home with older children (over 12s) who can spot when he's getting over stimulated and back off to let him calm down a bit.
