About Dobby ~ German Shorthaired Pointer, 18mos, male
This very handsome young man is Dobby. He is an 18 month old German Shorthaired Pointer. One lucky family will be very happy to have this boy in their life. Not only is he a looker but is a very friendly boy.
Dobby loves a car ride and happily jumps in the car so would be great to take on adventures. He is a playful dog and enjoys a walk but needs a walking harness as he does pull and is quite strong.
Dobby is very smart and has responded well to his initial training and already knows sit, drop, stay, touch, come and eat (waits for permission to eat from his bowl). However, he does require more training to help him stop pulling on the leash, jumping up and he can be wilful at times. His foster family has not tested Dobby’s off-leash behaviour in public spaces and therefore he would require appropriate training in a controlled environment before he is taken on off-leash outings.
Dobby has been an outside dog with a little bit of time inside. He enjoys family time so we would like him to be included in family life. Dobby does have the occasional accident inside so regular toilet breaks would help this.
Dobby loves other doggy company so would like another dog for company. He bonds very quickly with his doggy friends. While Dobby loves to play with people and other dogs, we have not seen how he interacts with young children or cats. Due to his size children over 10 + would be ideal as he does tend to jump up to say “hello”.
Dobby would not suit a family that works full time or being left at home by himself all day. Whilst he loves to be outdoors when there is fun to be had, he does not like being left alone in the backyard for extended periods of time, preferring to be indoors with his humans, and does sleep inside in his foster home. Due to his size and agility, Dobby requires high fences (preferably colorbond) to keep him safe in his yard.
Dobby is very lovable and is well worth the effort required to help him settle into his new home.
If you would like to meet Dobby please contact Sharron by texting 0423 331057 or email: sstudley3@bigpond.com He is located at Eleebana with his carers and is available for adoption interstate.
Dobby’s adoption fee is $600 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
