About Pongo
Hi everyone
My name is Pongo and I am a loving, gentle lad who was rescued from death row in a lower NSW pound. Despite the fact I arrived into OTC care at 1am in the cold and wind, I was a calm, quiet lad who just plonked onto my bed and had a nap.
I get along great with other dogs, and love to play outside. I prefer to be an inside/outside dog, as I enjoy being a part of the family. I am trustworthy inside but also quiet outside. I have no known fears or phobias and seem to be a very calm and confident boy. I currently live with a large-breed adult female. I have also been with puppies and adult males without issue. I am not good with poultry, so if you have chickens etc you would need very good fencing. I have not yet been tested with cats.
I love car rides and playing with balls, but mostly my favourite thing is being by your side and seeing what you're up to. My current fosters are away from the house for large parts of the day, so I am used to being home alone with another dog for company. I do need good fencing; 5ft, 6ft recommended.
Medical notes
Heartworm tested upon intake; was negative. Healthy and happy
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
