Medical Notes - Peggie came to us with an old fracture of her hock (ankle joint). This wasn't treated and had tried to heal incorrectly. Her leg has been removed whilst in our care to relieve her of the pain and discomfort associated with the fracture. Peggie must go to an INDOOR ONLY HOME.
Peggie joined our rescue as a pound transfer after they discovered she had an old fracture through her hock. After being assessed by our vets and a specialist surgeon, we decided to book her in to have the leg removed to relieve her of any pain associated with the fracture. Peggie didn't walk very well on her sore leg, and the leg already had a lot of wastage of the muscles.
Peggie has recovered amazingly and is zooming around HandiHQ faster than she did with four legs. She's a very playful and sometimes silly girl, who loves to explore her surroundings. Peggie is very affectionate and needs a home who are looking for a lap cat. She sits with you while you watch tv, and is straight off to bed with you at night time. Peggie is cat and dog friendly, and would suit a home with gentle children.
Peggie must go to a home where she will be strictly 100% indoors (unless she has a secure outdoor enclosure). Her new owners must also be aware that three legged animals need to stay at a good, lean body weight to help their remaining three legs. Peggie's weight will need to be monitored, and she will need a low fat diet if she begins to put on weight.
Please fill out an enquiry form found at the link below if you would like to meet Peggie, or get in touch with us if you have any further questions regarding her adoption or home requirements 🐾
