About Maki
Meet our baby Maki
Maki is a 9 month old bundle of love and happiness with the typical ‘cheeky and mischief’ of a husky.
We are looking for a new foster home for him and what would be AWESOME for him if it was a foster Home with the view to adopt, so he doesn’t have to move house again.
Maki came to us at the age of 5 months old with lameness in his left leg. He is currently being treated for what may be mild hip dysplasia. He has completed a course of weekly injections over 4 weeks and these will be repeated every 3-4 months as needed. These injections will need to be repeated every 6 months permanently to look after the health of the joint long term if hip dysphasia is diagnosed. He also has daily glucosamine and omega 3 to aid with joint health and 1x carprieve daily for pain relief.
Our vets are hopeful that he may grow out of this when he reaches maturity as his body just needs to catch up to his growth rate and also with the current treatment he is receiving. His hips will be x-rayed when he is 12 -15 months old to determine his full prognosis. If hip dysphasia is diagnosed, it is not the end of the world, he can live a normal happy life with just some extra care needed to keep his joints healthy.
Maki’s vet treatment, supplements and food will be covered by the rescue whilst he is in his foster home. Once Maki is adopted our vets have offered 25% discount on any ongoing treatment if needed to his new family.
But none of this stops this little boy from enjoying life to it’s fullest. He loves his 4 husky siblings, playing and snuggling with them, loves the water if there’s a splash pool around, loves his food - even his tablets but most of all he loves his humans and lots of cuddles and belly rubs.
Maki is desexed, vaccinated, flea and worm treated
