About Leo ~ Beagle x Cattle Dog(on trial 19/7/2018)
If you are looking for a furry new family member, look no further than our fun-loving Leo! Leo is an energetic 11 month old Beagle x Cattle Dog, who loves regular pats and running around in the yard.
Leo has beautiful markings, with brown beagle ears and a solid cattle body. His kind heart, good nature and bounding, puppy-like attributes make him very loveable!
Leo loves a belly scratch and playing fetch and chase with his toys. While the majority of the time he likes running around with his doggy friend in the yard, he also likes to lay on your feet and have a snuggle while you are watching TV. Leo gets along well with his foster sister, and other dogs he meets on walks.
Leo can get a little uncertain and bark when meeting new dogs, so he would love it if his new owners helped him socialise regularly so he could get used to others. He currently sleeps inside, and comes indoors when his humans are home. During the day he spends most of his time out in the yard playing with his toys.
Leo is toilet trained, can use the doggy door without prompting and is good in the car. When he sees new people he can get excited and jumps up a bit, but he is working on learning to stay down. He is getting better on the lead, but could benefit from some extra training as he can pull a little and is still in his puppy stages. We think Leo would best suit a family with no small children as he may accidentally knock them over when playing.
Leo was an only dog previously, but may have been a little lonely. He would suit a home where there is another dog, or if not, then plenty of opportunities to keep him busy and have plenty of exercise. Once settled, and with a little extra training and love, he will be a well behaved, kind and loyal companion who is very eager to join your family!
For more information or to meet Leo, please contact his foster carer Sarah on Sarah.lennard@uon.edu.au Leo is in foster care in Cardiff, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Leo’s adoption fee is $500 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
