About Reef ~ retreiver x boxer x staff (On Trial 30/8/18
Meet 2yo Reef! According to his paperwork he's a retreiver x boxer x staffy but you probably wouldn't guess it to look at him. He's more kelpie size and shape. Whatever his lineage, he is a very handsome, loving and affectionate boy. He would love to sit at you feet and watch TV or play with his toys in the backyard all day. He takes himself off to bed when his day is done and you don’t hear a peep out of him until the next morning.
Liver treats work magic on Reef. He can do all sorts of tricks like sit, lie down, stay, shake hands and wait for his dinner. He is learning to walk on lead without pulling and is doing a great job. He's a joy to train and learns very quickly. He weighs approximately 21 kg, a nice medium size. He has a beautiful, soft coat.
Reef didn't get much socialisation before coming into foster care so the world is fascinating to him, and sometimes a bit scary. His carers are doing a wonderful job of introducing him to new experiences at his own pace. He would love to go play with every dog he sees but he is learning that he can just watch them go past. He loves to sniff the grass and look and listen. He's not worried about traffic noises. He loves going in the car and behaves very well.
Reefs ideal home will be where he is an only dog and where there are no kids under 14. Someone who is dog savvy would be excellent for Reef. If you are that person, we can tell you, you will be rewarded with a great dog! Once Reef is comfortable in his home, he is the most loving, friendly affection boy you will meet.
If you are looking to adopt a rescue dog that you can really make a difference with, Reef is the dog for you. He has the potential to be a superstar - just add a pinch of training, patience and of course love. He has all the loyalty, love and companionship and smarts you could ask for.
If you think you can offer Reef a great new home please email Kylie on Sausageandmaggie@outlook.com. Reef is in foster care near Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie) and available for adoption interstate. His adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
