About Chloe and Morris. Maltese x Shih Tzu(Trial 14/7/18
Double the love with this perfect pair. Chloe and Morris are both 7 years old, Maltese x Shih Tzus. Chloe (smaller, black and white, female) is the more active and cheeky dog whereas Morris (white and cream, male) is more laid-back but still playful. They both like their toys. They like to chase a ball but aren't very good at bringing it back! They enjoy going for walks. Chloe pulls a little bit, but being so small and light, it doesn't really matter. Morris walks along very nicely, enjoying all the sights and smells.
Chloe and Morris were once well loved, but sadly their elderly owners died and then the person who took them didn't take care of them; they became skinny and their fur dirty and matted. Luckily, a kind person intervened and rescued them and brought them to Dog Rescue Newcastle. Now they are both happy and healthy again and very sweet, fun-loving and affectionate dogs. We tried to separate them to give them a better chance of adoption but Morris fretted. They were both thrilled to be reunited once again. They keep each other company and often sleep near each other.
They're wonderful with children. Their foster carer often babysits a couple of toddlers and a young teenager and Chloe and Morris adore them. Chloe and Morris wouldn't be suited to live with young children but would be fantastic with little visitors. Even though they keep each other company when no one is home, they still very much want to be with people. We think they'd be best in a home where there is someone who doesn't work full time (part time is fine). They are fine to live with other friendly dogs.
They're great with the other small dogs that they're with in foster care. They don't chase the neighbour's cat that sometimes sneaks into the yard. They pay no attention to the chickens in their hutch.
Chloe and Morris are inside dogs and are housetrained. They like exploring in the garden and napping in the sunshine but mostly they like to be inside with their foster mum. They don't need a large yard. They sleep indoors. They are non-shedding dogs so very clean. They need regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep them comfortable and beautiful. Morris, is a wee bit chubby but a daily walk and healthy diet will soon have him beach body ready.
We think they'll settle into their forever home like they've always been there. Small dogs like Chloe and Morris typically live 15 or 16 years so they still have plenty of time to enjoy the second half of their lives in their new home.
For more information or to meet Chloe and Morris, please contact Terri by sending email dogrescuenewcastle@gmail.com. It would help if you could please download an Adoption Questionnaire from https://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx, fill it in, then email it to Terri. But if you can't, please email anyway then I'll contact you.
Chloe and Morris are in foster care in Belmont, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). Their adoption fee is $690 and they are both desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Medical notes
Chloe came into care with red, irritated skin and matted fur. She has recovered well but still has some places on her chest and legs where her coat hasn't fully grown back yet. It will just take more time.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: https://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: https://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
