About Cricket
**CRICKET NEEDS TO BE THE ONLY CAT IN HER FOREVER HOME**
Please say a very Squishy hello to Cricket!
This gorgeous girl found herself as an unclaimed stray who was emaciated, matted, filthy, un-chipped and not desexed. The pound vets estimated her age at around 12 years old and when she arrived in care, we honestly didn’t know if she was going to survive. At that stage she was just 2.5kgs, had hair loss, was caked in filth, had chunks of dried poo through her tail, horrendous diarrhoea and was absolutely starving.
After extensive rehabilitation, Cricket is now a very healthy 3.8kgs and we believe that she is considerably younger than the initial estimate. We feel she is closer to 8 years old.
Cricket was adopted to a wonderful home in July, but heartbreakingly, she has now been returned due to serious illness of her adopter and through no fault of her own.
Cricket is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma! She can be a feisty little firecracker who is extremely affectionate, but can also be quite reactive initially. She can be a bit highly strung and desperately wants you to touch her, until she doesn’t! Fast hand movements while she's adjusting to her new environment may elicit a smack or a chomp, as may grooming, which she is getting better with and is currently clipped short to give her more time to get used to brushing. If ever there was a cat that deserved the “Norty Torti” moniker, Cricket is that cat!
Having said that, we absolutely adore this little spitfire and her antics and with an experienced, confident owner, we believe she will thrive. Cricket has her own form of ‘anger management’, by way of taking her pent up anxieties out on her scratch post! If she is feeling overwhelmed, aggrieved or slighted in some way, she will rip into her post, which really seems to calm her down. Her behavior is regularly reminiscent of an over tired toddler, hopped up on sugar, but you can't help but love her regardless!
Cricket is looking for a calm, mature home with an owner who is experienced with cats with attitude. She is not suited to a home with children or existing cats. She is however fine with small, calm, friendly dogs.
Cricket is in care in Wantirna South.
Medical notes
Cricket goes to her new home desexed, microchipped, flea and worm treated, current in vaccinations, having had a dental in July and is professionally groomed.
