About Nikki ~ 2 year old Kelpie X (On Trial 26/8/18)
Nikki is a sweet natured 2 yo Kelpie X. Apart from her good looks she is very loyal and loving and would like nothing else than to be part of your life. She enjoys playing with toys, swimming and especially being with people. She just loves to be near you. She shows affection by leaning on you or melting onto your feet when you are sitting.
Nikki comes when she is called, and will sit and shake hands and wait calmly for her meals. She's not a fence jumper. She only barks when she is alerting you to something. She's well mannered indoors and knows not to jump on the bed or couch unless she is allowed. She travels well in the car. She is very smart, loves learning new things and is a fast learner. She must be allowed inside with people. She is house trained, can use a doggy door and sleeps inside.
Nikki is currently in kennels where she gets along very well with lots of other dogs of all sizes. She hasn't been tested with cats or other pets yet.
Nikki adores people that she knows but doesn't like being approached head-on by strangers in the street. She is not the dog for you if you're a social butterfly or live in a busy urban area. But if you want a gorgeous, smart, playful, loyal dog who will help you feel safe and adored then you should meet Nikki!
Nikki doesn't need a daily walk. A couple of times a week would be fine so long as you stay away from busy places. She'd be very happy getting most of her exercise at home in a large yard and having lots of time with her family. She would absolutely love having another playful dog of similar size for company.
Nikki needs a forever home with people who are gentle, calm, experienced with larger dogs, and never harsh or punishing. She would suit a family with older children or no children. She likes lots of company so if you are home alot and/or have another dog to keep her busy, Nikki would love to be your most loyal friend.
For more information or to meet Nikki, please send email to Johnpgid@yahoo.com.au. Nikki is located in Port Stephens NSW and is not available for adoption interstate.
Nikki's adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered.

Medical notes
Nikki has had a hip operation to rectify a dislocation. She will need access to a pool, lake, dam or beach for regular swimming so she can continue to build muscle. Low impact exercise is a must, so fetch and jumping should be discouraged.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can answer your questions and will ask you about the sort of home you are offering and may ask you to fill in our Adoption Questionnaire. Word format: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.docx or PDF: http://www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au/adopt/adoptionquestionnaire.pdf
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
