About Sarah
Please read Sarah's profile before enquiring.
Sarah is another one of our special fosters looking for a specific type of home. She will need a family who are prepared to understand her needs and offer her time to settle in and feel safe.
Sarah is extremely energetic, loving and loyal once she gets to know and trust you, you will have a sweet little companion who will happily follow you everywhere.
Sarah really enjoys being indoors. She is toilet trained and loves sleeping inside curled up under a blanket.
We have found Sarah to be a little dominant towards the more submissive dogs and is best suited to a home with a larger (she is around 8-10kg and is small-medium in height), calm and balanced, desexed MALE dog as a companion. Considering she can be nervous and her move will be unsettling for her, we believe a desexed canine 'boy friend' will be the best option to help Sarah settle into her new environment. This decision has been made in Sarah's best interest.
Sarah enjoys her walks and visiting new places. Her leash manners are very good and she will benefit well from continued obedience training to help her and her new family create a trusting bond.
Unfortunately Sarah displayed quite aggressive behaviour towards men as an outcome of a type of resource guarding over the women in her previous home. Since coming into care, she has learnt that this is not necessary and as a result is now very friendly towards most people.
It will be important for Sarah’s new family to understand that although she is small, she is not a toy. She does not like to be carried nor treated like a baby. She is not a fan of dress ups and is at her happiest when she is allowed to behave like a dog with her friends.
Sarah came to us with a pre-existing limp. Our vets have since diagnosed this as an untreated fracture in her left elbow which has now fused incorrectly. To keep her comfortable, she will require daily pain medication and anti-inflammatories. She has already started this treatment under veterinary advice. We are happy to disclose all known information to her new family.
Please see Medical notes for information on her medication.
The perfect home for Sarah will be with a confident and well settled desexed male dog to help Sarah feel secure and continue developing her confidence in her new home. She would be happier if her humans did not work full time as she enjoys being their little shadow.
Sarah is best suited to a home where there were no young children or other types of animals, besides her doggy friend in her forever home.
The type of home we have described is the best outcome for Sarah and different situations for her will not be considered.
Please contact us if you would like to enquire about this sweet young lady.
Not for interstate adoption.
Medical notes
Sarah will require 3 different medications on a daily basis to enable her to be comfortable and enjoy a long and happy life.
Vet recommendations are that Sarah would attend a clinic for annual blood tests to ensure her body is coping with the long term medication.
Her medications costs are approximately $150 for 100 days worth of treatment.
When Sarah is adopted, the remaining medication we have for her will be passed on to new owner. We can advise of some affordable options when more medication is needed.
Adoption details
If you think one of our animals would be a good match for your home please email us and we will be in touch shortly after. We all work fulltime, have families and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
