About Pegasus
Pegasus was rescued from the pound a few months ago, and came with a terrible case of scaley leg mite. She's been in quarantine for many many weeks while recovering, and she is now mite free with new scales growing on her feet, looking tidy and beautiful! Like all out chickens, Pegasus has also been wormed and treated for internal and external parasites. She's an isa brown, and is named after the stockfeed company down the road, that supply our shelter with wholesale chicken food. Check them out next time you come to visit ;)
Pegasus arrived wary and flighty around humans, but as you can imagine, after being handled every day over the last few months getting treatment, she's now so comfortable in our arms that she even falls asleep. She also quite enjoys getting her feet washed in warm water (in case you haven't got a life and want to give foot spas to a chicken).
Pegasus is looking for a special home that will continue to love and care for her. After all the work we've put into her feet, we'd really like her to go to a flock of chickens that don't carry scaley leg mites. Or any mites for that matter. She is parasite free and would like to stay that way. Talk to us about good parasite prevention techniques!
