About Barney
This roly poly squishy little man is is absolutely lovely to have around! He is currently in care with his brother and sister, host dog, 3 cats and 2 chickens. He enjoys playing with his toys and leaves and sticks from the garden. He loves to go off for a wander then come back for some serious loving. He spends his days exploring, playing, and of course lots of napping. Barney is very affectionate and absolutely loves to be held and nurtured by his humans. He enjoys being both inside and outside.
The Shar Pei breed is not for everyone, and certainly not for those who are looking at getting their very first puppy. They can have a very dominant temperament and require firm training from an early age. Puppy Pre-school is essential as the Shar Pei is a very stubborn breed and if not properly trained, can be difficult to manage. They are also territorial and extremely loyal to their owners.
We would love to help get you started with training Barney, so our amazing supporters, Best Friends - Erina, have kindly offered to include a 5 week Puppy training course with all of our Puppy adoptions (up to 16wks of age)....The Best Friends Puppy Pre-School service is a fun and interactive five-week training course that covers puppy behaviours, diet, health, grooming, exercise and play, with an emphasis on socialisation, command training, health and care. Their aim is to teach you positive ways to train your puppy in basic skills such as ‘sit’, ‘drop’, ‘stay’, and how to walk well on a lead, but also how to control your puppy’s not so desirable behaviours like toileting inside, biting, mouthing and separation anxiety.
Barney will have completed his vet work and be ready to join your family by the weekend of the 14th July. Please contact us via email and we will send out a questionaire to be filled out. Once returned back to us, we can organise a meet asap.
